Educational Meetings
Guests Are welcome to attend
Our educational meetings are designed to share knowledge about rocks, minerals, and related subjects. Each meeting may feature guest speakers, refreshments, silent auction, and information of upcoming events and activities within the Society. Guests are warmly welcome to attend and explore the fascinating world of gem and minerals with us.
September Educational Meeting
Join us for an exciting presentation by Jim Hutchings as he explores the unique geology and spectacular mineral specimens of Topaz Mountain and discover why this region is a favorite destination for rockhounds. Jim will share tips, stories, and examples from his own collecting experiences, providing valuable insights for anyone interested in joining our field trip.
For those planning to attend, don’t forget to add to your calendar our September 25–28 field trip to Topaz Mountain and the Dugway Geode Beds northwest of Delta, Utah. Members will have the opportunity to collect topaz, red beryl, pseudo-brookite, hematite, and geodes firsthand. This presentation is a perfect way to prepare for the adventure, or to enjoy the treasures vicariously if you can’t attend.
