The Roseville Rock Rollers Gem and Mineral Society is affiliated with several organizations, including the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies (CFMS) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). How can I become a member?

To become a member, you can fill out the membership application form available on our website or at our monthly meetings. Membership fees are listed on the form and can be paid by cash, check, or card.

Where and when do you hold your meetings?

Our Educational Meetings are hold on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7PM in the Garden Room @the Grounds. 700 Event Center Drive, Roseville CA. Guests are welcome to attend and explore the fascinating world of gemology with us.The meetings are open to the public and include guest speakers, educational programs, and more.

Are your events open to the public?

Yes, many of our events, including the educational meetings and the annual Gem and Mineral Show, are open to the public. We encourage non-members to attend and learn more about our society.

We offer a special program for young enthusiasts called the Rookie Rock Rollers, which includes educational meetings, hands-on activities, and the opportunity to learn about rocks and minerals in a fun environment.

Kids can also participate in the Kids Junction at our Annual Show, which includes a variety of games and activities.

What should I expect at your Educational Meetings?

At our Educational Meetings, you can expect informative presentations, demonstrations, and discussions on various topics related to gems, minerals, and earth sciences. We also have door prizes, a silent auction, and refreshments.

What does the membership fee include?

The membership fee includes access to our monthly newsletter, participation in exclusive field trips and workshops, use of our lapidary shop, borrowing privileges from our library, and discounts on events and classes.

Should I attend a meeting before becoming a member?

Yes, we welcome guests to attend a meeting before deciding to join. This is a great way to learn more about our activities and meet current members.

How can I renew my membership?

Membership renewals can be submitted in person at our November and December Educational Meetings. Payment can be made by cash, check, or card.

Rookie Rock Rollers

What is the Rookie Rock Rollers program?

The Rookie Rock Rollers is our junior member program designed for young enthusiasts interested in rocks, minerals, and fossils. The program includes educational activities, field trips, and special presentations.

How can my child join the Rookie Rock Rollers?

School-age children can join the Rookie Rock Rollers by becoming a junior member of the Society. Junior membership includes access to special programs and activities tailored for younger rockhounds.

What is the Lapidary Shop?

The Lapidary Shop is a fully equipped workshop where members can work on their own projects, take classes, or get guidance from experienced instructors. The public can sign up for classes such as Beginners Cabochon to learn the basics of cutting and polishing stones. Members can attend open sessions and sign up for lapidary and craft classes.

How can I access the Lapidary Shop

The lapidary shop is available to members during scheduled classes and services, open house hours, and Sociey Event. Check our website or the Rollin’ Rock newsletter for the current schedule and Lapidary Shop Director contact information.

We offer various craft classes, including cabochon making, jewelry crafting, and more. Classes are taught by experienced instructors and provide hands-on learning opportunities.

What resources are available in the Society’s Library?

Our library includes books, magazines, and videos on gems, minerals, fossils, and related subjects. Members can check out materials during our educational meetings.

Where can I find the Library?

Members can check out materials by visiting the Lapidary Shop.

Members can also check out materials by visiting the library table at our Educational Meetings. Our librarian will assist you with the checkout process.

How can I check out materials from the Library?

Materials can be borrowed for a period of one month, with the possibility of renewal.

Members must fill out the check-out form with their name, contact information, and the titles they are borrowing.

Volunteering

How can I volunteer for the Gem and Mineral Show?

Volunteers are needed for various tasks during the Gem and Mineral Show. You can sign up to help with setup, takedown, Kids Junction, admission tables, the silent auction, and more. No experience is needed, and you will be working alongside other club members who can provide assistance. Remember, once it was all new to us, too!
