I wanted to thank all the members that have stepped up and put themselves out there and volunteered for an officer or chair position. Not certain if many of you realize, but we have nearly an entire new complement of officers that will support the society in 2026 and hopefully beyond. So, I just want to say thank you and I am truly appreciative of the support by all of you.
I want to pass along some information about my active role as president, since I have not been present to most of the educational meetings, and some of the board meetings. Although I am not present, I do call in to most of the board meetings to ensure I am on top of what is happening with the society. A bonus for me being on the road is I have the luxury of being able to reach out to many people and places that would normally be my office work hours, which would not allow me to perform these actions without taking time off. So, this allows me to handle things that require me to assist a chairperson with “The Grounds” or any other entity they may need some positional authority to back them up.
So, I am not completely disconnected, I am merely just not present in body. I hope this puts at ease many of your worries as to me not being present. Trust me, I am on top of things and making sure that the society is moving along on the proper path to longevity and prosperity.
Now on to some interesting stuff! I ran across this list of USGS critical minerals for the US. Think many of you vendors and collectors may want to take a look. There are some materials that I know are on many people's table that may make that item much more costly. Apparently amongst the dinosaur community there has been a back and forth on a dinosaur being a new species of the T-Rex or not. Well, the conclusion appears to be in and this story covers all those details. https://naturalsciences.org/calendar/news/nanotyrannus-confirmed/
Take care of yourselves and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, see you all next year.
